Many of you have become aware of a post that appeared on the Facebook group “Calgary Realtors Uncensored but Still Civil”.  The message appeared anonymously on Saturday Nov.16, alleging the misappropriation of members’ funds.

Just a few short weeks ago on Aug. 29, my wife and I joined my youngest daughter at orientation days to help her get settled in her new college residence. 

We were very surprised to learn last year that the AREA board of directors has adopted the concept of member choice in services they receive from their local board and AREA. There have never been any conversations about this idea, certainly during last year’s attempted merger with AREA or any time before or since.

At our April 25, 2024 AGM, I responded to the question above by saying that we in fact did propose a motion to remove the Pillar 9™ board of directors because we opposed a massive fee increase. 

CREB® is pleased to share that a one-time dues rebate of $150 is being provided to all eligible members in 2024.
As reported by AREA at the Jan 16, 2024, AREA AGM, I presented an amendment to an AREA bylaw. In the attached letter to AREA of Oct 25, 2023, we laid out our rationale for the need for an amendment to AREA Bylaw 8.

We have received a lot of feedback since our announcement on Nov. 6, 2023, of the board of director's decision to approve a significant investment in our building. We thank those members who took the time to share their thoughts and suggestions.

Recently, a series of lawsuits involving the NAR and major franchises and brokerages have been making headlines in the US. 

It’s my great pleasure to share the news that CREB®’s Board of Directors has approved the CREB® Campus Initiative - a transformational renovation project set to invigorate our building by creating an atmosphere that truly unites our membership.
Since April 18, prior to the Canadian Real Estate Association’s (CREA) 2023 Annual General Meeting, CREB®’s Board of Directors has been updating our membership on some ongoing concerns with CREA. 
It is my responsibility, as Chair of CREB®, to keep members informed about important developments with the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA).

Over the past several weeks, there have been several concerning developments involving CREA with their approach to managing technology and their apparent desire to be more involved in the transaction process.
