We’re nearly two weeks removed from the big celebration, but we won’t stop, because we can’t stop feeling the reverberations from an epic night at the 2017 ROAR Awards—man, did we ROAR!
Our annual bash to celebrate industry professionalism, Recognizing Our Accomplished REALTORS® (ROAR), was another huge success.
Every year, folks who are at the event for the first time come up to me and say, “It’s the best party I’ve been to in ages.” The accolades rain down on the décor, food, entertainment, and most importantly, the REALTOR® of the Year and the ROAR Awards program.
At each year’s event, we make extensive use of video and keep a tight ship, usually with the help of some amazing comedic talent. Over the years, our hosts have included the likes of Gerry Dee, Jessica Holmes and Jon Montgomery. This year, our events team outdid themselves by landing Graham Neil and Donovan Workun. OMG, I have never heard so many back-to-back belly laughs!
It was a great party, but what really blew me away were the acceptance speeches from all our deserving winners. Our ROAR and REALTOR® of the Year – T.W.H. (Bill) Saunders Memorial Award recipients truly outdid themselves. Eloquent, humble, appreciative and truly thrilled—how awesome is that?
In case you didn’t have the chance to check out the winners, you can find them on the ROAR website.
The packed house at Hotel Arts was a sight to see. The fact we have these awards and can celebrate nominees who innovate, serve, create, mentor and educate is the strongest statement of our collective commitment to excellence. We had more than 150 quality nominations this year, a clear indicator of how important this type of recognition is.
I’m also pleased to see how involved our members want to be with recognition programs. We’ve received a number of great suggestions on how to improve the ROARs, and other awards, for the future. We appreciate you sharing your ideas in what works, what doesn’t and what you’d love to see.
Who knows, with next year being our 75th anniversary, maybe we need to do something very special…
