On Tuesday night, CREB®’s superhero members traded in their capes for cocktail attire at the CREB® Charitable Foundation’s 30th anniversary celebration.
Approximately 70 foundation donors, sponsors and members filled the CREB® atrium as they networked and reminisced about their favourite foundation memories and the impact it continues to have on the community.
Heart felt speeches from Aneve MacKay-Lyons, CREB® Charitable Foundation manager and event emcee, and Rob Campbell, CREB® Charitable Foundation president, opened the formal program. David P. Brown, CREB® president, shared its congratulations from the board and toasted to the foundation’s continued success.
In conjunction with the celebration was the Investing in HOPE grant cheque presentation. The Foundation presented a total of $300,000 to three deserving local charities chosen through the REALTOR®-directed selection process.
Inn from the Cold – $125,000
Funds to go towards the expansion of its highly-successful Journey House supportive housing model. Named JH 2, its first floor will be called the CREB® Floor of HOPE.
Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta – $100,000
Funds to help complete the exterior spaces at Camp Kindle, ensuring safety and accessibility for these special campers and allowing it to create an additional gathering space.
Made by Momma – $75,000
Funds to provide healthy meals, baby essentials and supportive in-home visitors that allow mothers the time they need to rest, recover and focus on their families and their health.
“Over the last 30 years, our superhero members have been at the heart of our community investment initiatives,” said Aneve MacKay-Lyons. “Their commitment to giving back is unparalleled as seen with their involvement with Investing in HOPE’s grant nomination and selection process. Through their efforts, they’re not only benefitting community organizations, but are making life more manageable for many local individuals and their families.”
The event concluded with a delicious pasta bar catered by Great Events and a superhero-themed dessert table that packed a mean (but sweet) punch by Whippt Desserts & Catering. Photo booth fun was also provided by Picture This Digital Photography.
“Our Realtors’ generosity never ceases to amaze me” says Rob Campbell, CREB® Charitable Foundation president. “It is their philanthropic spirits and dedication that allows the foundation to continue on with its legacy of giving. I could not be more proud to be part of this incredible organization.”
The foundation sends its sincerest thank you to its members, friends of the foundation and sponsors. With their ongoing support, measurable philanthropic initiatives continue to be implemented for people who need it most.
To date, through Investing in HOPE and other charitable initiatives, it has given $6.3 million to over 150 local organizations.
