This weekend, Calgary’s burgeoning cast of cycle enthusiasts will join up with a sea of casual crusaders for the ride to conquer cancer. Click here to learn more and register.
Every year is special for participants, including REALTORS® Ted and Eric who will take part in the epic ride and help build on the amazing fundraising achievements for the Alberta Cancer Foundation, which now stretch over $60 million.
Here’s a replay of some of the feedback we received from Ted and Eric about their incredible experience with The Ride.
How did you initially get involved in The Ride?
Ted - Team Believe began as a core group of REALTORS®, but over the years it has expanded outwards, and we welcome anyone who wants to join.
Currently, six of our 26 riders are active REALTORS®. Paul Daggett has been with our team since day one, so this is his ninth year in a row riding for Team Believe. After much poking and prodding from other team members and fellow agents at our brokerage, I finally made the decision to join the team in the summer of 2014. This will be my fourth-year riding, and my second year as Team Captain.
Eric- I got involved last year after watching my dad battle cancer. He is still with us today, so I just want to do my share, perhaps make his life better.
What keeps you motivated and involved?
Ted - We all have our personal reasons for being part of The Ride. I’ve personally lost four friends to cancer since I started this journey less than four years ago. And now I have two more friends fighting the dreaded disease. But, science is indeed making progress.
For example, did you know that two out of every three patients who walk into the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, walk out Cancer free? Even just a few years ago, this was not the case. Progress seems slow, but this disease is incredibly complicated, and we are indeed making headway, every day.
Eric - When I did the ride last year it was my first time and I did it myself. There were around 1500 riders and I've never been around so many awesome people, it was an amazing experience.
From all of us at CREB®, well done guys, and well done to every CREB® member who is taking part in this awesome journey. As they say, be bold. Be The Ride and register today.
