5 Keys to Condo KMS

By CREB®

With so many condos for sale in Calgary, keeping track of lockboxes onsite can be a challenge. Here are five tips to help you manage your key management system and make sure your next showing is about the home – and not the headache.

1. Tap the ENT button on the Lockbox/Lobbybox before selecting the box with your SentriConnect app. This will put it to the top of your list in SentriConnect and make sure you select and open the right box.

2. When you’re opening a CREB® Lobbybox, leave the outside door key or your business card in the box. That way you can access the property without creating headaches for other REALTORS® who might want to show other units in the same building.

3. If you’re using a lockbox in a condo building, ask the property manager if there is a preferred place to put your lockbox. Some buildings have specific bylaws around where lockboxes can be placed, and checking before you install your box can save you time and potential complaints from other building residents.

4. Secure your lockboxes safely by attaching them to the door handle or using a door hanger. If you’re placing a lockbox on your client’s door, make sure you secure it properly using the shackle. If you can’t fit the lockbox easily over the doorknob, CREB®’s REALTOR® Store has door hangers that fit over the door and keep the lockbox secure.

5. Make sure you label your lockboxes with your contact details without covering the serial number. A simple label with your contact info on it is just fine, or the REALTOR® Store also features business card holders that slide right in the shackle.
