The deadline for Alberta REALTORS® to complete their AREA mandatory training is Jan. 31, 2020.
In order to meet the mandatory course requirement, members must complete one of the following three courses by Jan. 31, 2020.
- Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) AREA online course
- Competition Law AREA online course
- Apply a third-party course equivalent from an outside institute
The CASL and Competition Law online courses are approximately 2 hours in length.
The third-party course equivalent option allows members to take their learning into their own hands and apply an outside course that meets the designated criteria as their 2019 mandatory course option.
If you choose to complete the third-party course equivalent option you must submit a request form to AREA and receive approval by Dec. 1, 2019 and then submit the completion verification form by Dec. 31, 2019.
You can access these courses by logging in to your AREA member account through www.albertarealtor.ca.
Please click here for instructions on assigning the CASL or Competition Law courses into your AREA member account.
Please click here for instructions on assigning the Third-Party Course Equivalent Request and Verification forms into your AREA member account.
Completion of the course is required by Jan. 31, 2020. No extension periods will be granted.
If you do not complete the course by the deadline, your access to CREB® membership services, including the MLS® System and SentriLock, will be suspended as of Feb. 1, 2020.
Please note, reinstatement will not be immediate. CREB® will be required to verify with AREA that the course has been completed and then reinstate access, this may take up to 24 hours.
