Tom Westcott, Past-President of CREB®’s board of directors has been officially appointed to AREA’s Real Estate Act Review Working Group.
Tom Westcott’s recent appointment to this important working group ensures Calgary and area REALTORS® will be well represented.
“We’re pleased that Tom will be CREB®’s voice throughout this critical review and applaud AREA’s board of directors for being pro-active in moving this valuable work forward,” said Alan Tennant, CREB® CEO.
The working group will guide and support AREA in developing and consolidating industry recommendations regarding changes to the real estate regulatory framework in Alberta. Specifically, the working group will:
- Review and discuss the initial provisions of the Real Estate Act and corresponding regulations recommended for revision.
- Design provincewide consultation options to solicit members’ input.
- Participate in broad consultation processes in their region as directed by the Review Working Group.
- Review and discuss consultation findings and other related changes to the Act.
- Recommend to AREA’s Board of Directors on industry-endorsed positions regarding changes to the Real Estate Act.
“Some crucial conversations with our government are on the horizon and we need one clear, decisive voice that communicates our needs,” said Tennant.
Tom has a long history in our industry and promises to be fundamental in helping lay some principal groundwork that we need for the future of our industry.”
Tom Westcott has been a REALTOR® and CREB® member for more than 43 years, including Past-President on CREB®’s board of directors. Volunteering thousands of hours, he’s served on numerous standing committees, task forces and participated in many focus groups.
Not only has Tom been an integral part of CREB®, but he’s also served countless industry partner organizations over the years.
