Technology streamlined for REALTORS®

By CREB®

Meet Pillar 9 – the registered company name of Alberta One Realty Listing Services Inc. (AORLS). Soon, Pillar 9 will provide a streamlined technology experience for REALTORS®.

Pillar 9 is a for profit company owned by its REALTOR® subscribers – members of nine Alberta real estate boards and the Alberta Real Estate Association (AREA), which represent the founding shareholders.

With Pillar 9, REALTORS® will have access to a wider pool of data to better serve their clients, improved buying power, access to new products and services, plus the ability to conduct business on a single-point MLS® System.

How is CREB® connected to Pillar 9?

CREB® is one of the nine founders of Pillar 9.

We are deeply connected from this standpoint, and also on the service delivery side through REB Resources Ltd., our private subsidiary, which is delivering key service and business development support to get the new Pillar 9 technology up and out to members.

CREB® will also continue to do what it does after migration to Pillar 9, which is providing unmatched products, services and support to members, with access to all the tools and resources that aren't bundled with the new MLS® System.

More detail about Pillar 9 services can be found in the 'Meet Pillar 9' announcement.

What is the cost structure for CREB® members?

CREB®'s board of directors is committed to ensuring your costs do not go up through the transition to Pillar 9.

In fact, considering current economic challenges, and in keeping with our priority to manage the cost to belong, CREB®'s board has pledged to balance fees at equal or less than current costs for all members through the transition to Pillar 9 as our MLS® Services provider.

Future state – Pillar 9 will be charging a monthly fee of $27.50 per member. The current MLS® System monthly service fee will be retired as the monthly fee from Pillar 9 is introduced. We're still fine tuning the total cost framework, but the sum of all related fees for 2020 will not be more than what you pay now, as mentioned.

When all the details of the new system are released, you will see multiple aspects of our fee structure that are being changed, including the technology fee, with the end goal of holding the line on 2020 member cost to belong.

When will CREB® members migrate?

Alberta boards will begin migration to Pillar 9 in April 2020.

When a board migrates, their property listing data will be added to the MLS® System.

Once all Alberta boards have migrated, members will have access to all Alberta listing data.

Please note, once the Pillar 9 MLS® System launches for CREB®, access to our old MLS® System will no longer be available.

Is this everything I need to know about Pillar 9?

Actually, this is just the beginning.

We've done our best to keep the word count down in this opening message, but there is certainly much more information and member engagement to come.

Rest assured we will be rolling out full communications about Pillar 9 and what you can except from training, more specific detail on fees and key aspects of the new value proposition for members.

CREB® is here to support you through the migration and ensure a seamless transition to the new MLS® System.
