This week’s bulletin includes a reminder on masking and the showing rules relaxation.

Reminder: Mandatory mask requirements

As of July 1, 2021, Alberta entered Stage 3 of Alberta’s Open for Summer Plan, removing the provincial mask mandate and allowing businesses to resume the same operations and level of activity as they were able to before the pandemic. Calgary followed suit on July 5 when Calgary City Council voted to repeal the Temporary COVID-19 Face Coverings Bylaw.

Please remember that although masks are not mandatory in Calgary, masks may still be required in certain municipalities of Alberta, and when requested by individual businesses.

Masking is now optional at CREB^®, although we encourage anyone who wishes to wear a mask while in the building to do so.

Reminder: Showing Rules Relaxation

Please remember that under the current showing rules relaxation, sellers' instructions on additional health and safety measures, such as mask wearing, still need to be adhered to. This temporary relaxation to MLS^® Rules will remain in place over the summer and will be revisited by AREA and local boards/associations in the fall.

Any additional seller instructions must be communicated to the showing agent, ideally in writing, to prepare buyers for their showing. Showing agents are responsible for ensuring they and their buyers observe sellers' instructions during showings, under their duty to maintain care and control of the property while showing.

CREB^® recommends that members continue to have conversations about masks with their clients to determine personal preferences and ensure everyone is comfortable.
