COVID-19 bulletin

May 25, 2021

May 25 update

By CREB®
This week’s bulletin includes reminders on showing and open house rules, as well as paid leave for vaccinations.

Showing and open house rules

Thank you to all our members who have adjusted their practices to support the showing and open house rules in effect to help keep our clients and members safe. We know that these ongoing restrictions can be challenging but keeping our community’s health and safety remains a priority for our industry.

RECA has indicated in recent case summaries that it's a joint responsibility to adhere to showing restrictions. Listing agents are responsible for conveying additional seller instructions to the buyer's representative, ideally in writing with confirmation from the buyer's agent. Buyer's agents are responsible for ensuring all showing instructions are adhered to when showing the property.

If members are encountering situations related to showings and open houses that are not adhering to the provincial restrictions, and if you and your broker are unable to find a sufficient resolution, formal complaints can be submitted for member-to-member dispute resolution.

For more information, please review our FAQs about showings and open houses on CREB®Link.

For questions, please contact your CREB® Member Practice team at crebmp@creb.ca or 403-781-1336.
