SentriConnect® vs One Day Codes

What should you do when someone other than a CREB® member needs access to a property?

When gaining access to a lockbox, all REALTORS® should be subscribed to use the SentriKey® Real Estate app, but there are other approved individuals who may need access as well. That is where SentriConnect® comes in.

SentriConnect® should be used to grant access to REALTORS® from neighbouring boards. It gives you peace of mind, knowing your lockbox is being securely accessed. SentriConnect® can also be used to give property access to other individuals in accordance with the CREB® Rules Part II 7.03 & 7.04.

There are many benefits to using the app:

  • It works hand in hand with the SentriKey® Real Estate app.
  • It is secure, allowing access using an app with a pre-determined date and time, rather than codes, which can be shared.
  • You’ll receive notifications to let you know when the property has been accessed using SentriConnect® and by whom.
  • It allows you to set up the access for a specific day and time, and gives you the power to revoke that access.
  • Access can be scheduled up to 14 days in advance and for up to 14 consecutive days.
  • The app is customizable, allowing for profile information, profile photos, property information and Google Maps integration.

One day codes

One day codes should only be used as a last resort for technical troubleshooting. They are not considered to be a secure method of entry because:

  • They cannot be properly tracked.
  • They can be shared or overheard.
  • You cannot confirm who is using it.
  • There are no notifications on when it is used or how many times.
  • They cannot be revoked once given.

If SentriKey® Real Estate and SentriConnect® are not working, a one day code should only be given to a verified REALTOR®.

As a reminder, SentriConnect® and one day codes are not intended to replace a member’s obligation to have the appropriate tools, such as the SentriKey® Real Estate App, to fulfil their responsibilities to their clients (sellers and buyers) while providing a professional level of service required of the REALTOR® brand.
