Did you know CREB®’s Government Relations Team (GRT) is making meaningful connections with civic leaders through targeted outreach and advocacy?
Recently, the GRT released statistics packages for Calgary’s 14 Wards. These documents and subsequent outreach with each Ward is working to deepen our relationship with City Councillors and the Mayor, which is key to positioning CREB® REALTORS® as the trusted resource for information on the housing market.
The GRT is building momentum by implementing a predictable schedule of regular touchpoints with local government. A new version of the quarterly publication will be produced and distributed to municipal leaders, and then shared here with CREB® members.
The more we engage, the more effective our message becomes, and so if you have connection points with your local Ward Councillor, please refer to the information in the YYC Real Estate publication. And, universally, we need our targets audiences to remember the following:
- Real estate is critical to economic recovery efforts in Calgary and surrounding areas;
- Real estate accounts for more than 11 per cent of Alberta’s GDP. This makes it the second largest industry in the province, next to the energy sector;
- Housing and home ownership is a core priority that must be on the agenda at City Council. We need a collaborative strategy to expand the range of housing supply available to Calgarians;
- REALTORS® are trusted advisors who help housing consumers with the largest financial transaction of their life; and
- Real estate is local. CREB®’s YYC Real Estate publications offer information and statistics about each Ward in Calgary, including details on pricing, types of housing product and sales volume, to name a few.
