Since 2016, CREB^® has had an agreement in place with SentriLock as our Key Management partner to supply the keyboxes we provide to our members.

All keyboxes come with a 7-year warranty for defects and service, which means boxes that were purchased in October 2016 will reach their expiration date in October 2023. We have communicated this information to 4,019 members who purchased keyboxes in that window of time.

The goal is to ensure members have the information they need to effectively manage the life cycle of their keyboxes. Expiration dates vary widely based on the date the lockbox was purchased, so we are staggering our communications to ensure information reaches members at the right time and in the right order.

Every board that provides their members with keyboxes are dealing with the same kind of warranty issues. Our approach to engage members directly and early is part of our due diligence at CREB^® to ensure members have the information they need to manage their keyboxes effectively.

All boxes have an expiry date and there are no keybox suppliers who provide extended warranties. These products are electronic devices with a defined lifespan for warranty coverage.

It’s also worth noting there is no expectation that the keyboxes will fail after the warranty expires, but it is prudent to take good care of the battery to ensure consistent operation at all times. Keyboxes won’t be exchanged if they break after the warranty ends.

In 2016, when CREB^® decided to move to SentriLock, our product assessment determined that at the time, and in the context of warranties, there was no distinct advantage between suppliers. 

Our decision to move away from our previous supplier was not based on any concerns about warranty of their keyboxes. The models in those years had limited electronic features and were more of a mechanical tool. The keyboxes continue to evolve and SentriLock remains best in class.
