Why now and not in 2024?
You might wonder why we're having the SGM this fall rather than waiting for the AGM in April. Our reasoning is simple.
Bylaw changes are effective immediately, so the proposed changes, if approved Oct. 3, can come into play in time for the upcoming election (a concern to both the 2022 Governance Excellence Task Force (GETF) and the Governance Standing Committee (GSC)).
The board heard a clear message from our members that you want to be engaged often and see movement in areas of concern. The fall SGM demonstrates the Directors’ commitment to effecting change sooner than later.
