As of Dec. 16, 2024, several key amendments to the CREB^® Rules are now in effect.

Many of our members are noticing that properties listed on the MLS^® System are being independently advertised by non-listing agents on different platforms. 

The hot market has kept CREB^® Member Practice busy as we identify trends, promote best practices, and continue to answer member questions about unexpected situations in the field.

On December 19, we shared that the 10 Alberta Real Estate Boards had agreed to phase out the Temporary Rule Relaxations that were in place to support the health and safety of our communities during the COVID-19 Pandemic. 

In mid-December, we shared that the CREB^® Board of Directors had amended some of the CREB^® rules. Some of these amendments resulted from the feedback CREB^® members shared with the Member Practice team, committees and Board of Directors.

In an effort to enhance clarity and provide our members with a clearer understanding of expectations, we are in the process of updating and amending the CREB^® rules effective Jan. 4, 2024. 

As of Jan. 3, 2022, all new listings that are conditionally sold must be reported on the MLS^® System as “Pending.” Listing agents are responsible for updating their listings within two business days to reflect the actual status of the property.

As of April 1, changes are coming to Canada’s Anti-Money Laundering laws, including the removal of temporary COVID-19 measures.

We’re pleased to announce that all 10 Alberta real estate boards and associations have approved new provincial rules for the reporting of pending sales.
