REALTORS® expand their support of Ronald McDonald House Charities

By CREB®
Today, on behalf of local REALTORS®, the CREB® REALTOR® Community Foundation delivered the final installment of a $1 million Legacy Grant to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).

This three-year grant supports the expansion of the Calgary Ronald McDonald House, allowing the creation of 60 additional suites for families in need during serious illness or injury of their child. The additional suites will allow RMHC to nearly triple the number of families they support each year.

"We are thrilled to witness the remarkable progress RMHC has achieved on this expansion project. Their unwavering commitment to supporting families in need serves as a powerful inspiration for Calgary REALTORS® and the CREB® REALTOR® Community Foundation. This dedication underscores the importance of our mission and motivates us to continue our efforts in volunteering, donating, and supporting our communities.

Through collective action and shared vision, we can make a significant impact, ensuring that those in need receive the care and assistance they deserve," said Catherine Chow, Chair of the CREB® REALTOR® Community Foundation.

Over the years, the relationship between the Foundation and RMHC has gone beyond financial. Calgary REALTORS® have eagerly volunteered to help with holiday tasks, cook meals and keep the house in tip-top shape for the residents.

“CREB® REALTOR® Community Foundation has made a significant impact to the expansion of the Calgary Ronald McDonald House. We are grateful to the Foundation and their members who recognize the essential service provided to families who need to travel to access care for their ill or injured child,” says Denise Kinghorn, Chief Development Officer of RMHC Alberta.

“In 2023, RMHC Alberta served families from over 200 communities around the province, and over 50 communities from outside of Alberta. These families are provided a Home away from Home including accommodation, food, transportation, and programs. When the expanded House opens in 2025, we will be able to welcome hundreds of more families into our House during their time of great need.”

The relationship and support between the Foundation and RMHC will continue to grow through volunteerism, even after their expansion project is complete.
