Depending on the situation, we may recommend that members consult their broker. Brokers work collaboratively to understand and address these issues. If they are unable to resolve the matter, they can guide associates on how to file a complaint with CREB®, which will then be processed through our Administrative Justice system.

When a member submits a complaint and requests further review, the Member Practice team collaborates with the Professional Standards Assurance Team (PSAT) to manage the next steps, including launching an investigation. Complaints undergo various stages and timelines as they progress through the system.
The PSAT supports CREB®'s Strategic Plan to Enhance Professional Standards. Here’s a snapshot of their activities from April to September 2024:
• Number of new complaints: 10
• Number of complaints related to CREB® Bylaws, Rules, and the REALTOR® Code of Ethics: 7
• Number of complaints that initiated an investigation: 3
• Number of penalty hearings held: 1
• Number of inquiry hearings held: 1
• Number of show cause hearings held: 2
• Number of appeal hearings held: 1
Any member can submit a complaint online using CREB®'s complaint submission form.
Joining the Professional Standards Assurance Team
Members interested in joining the PSAT can contact CREB®'s Member Relations & Volunteer Engagement Advisor at volunteer@creb.ca for more information about the committee.
If a member wishes to apply, they can express their interest by completing the CREB® Volunteer Intake Form and selecting the option for the Professional Standards Assurance Team.
The number of new appointments to the PSAT will depend on available committee vacancies and expected file volumes at the start of 2025.
For questions regarding the complaint process, please reach out to the Member Practice team at 403-781-1336 or crebmp@creb.ca.
