Canada’s housing system is increasingly stacked against the people who need it most. Whether it’s the rising cost of living, volatile mortgage rates, unaffordable rents, or limited housing supply, more Canadians are finding themselves shut out of safe, secure, and affordable homes.
That’s why CREB® is supporting the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness (CAEH), Habitat for Humanity Canada, the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA), and the Canadian Housing and Renewal Association (CHRA) as part of the Housing Canada Coalition to amplify the End the Housing Game campaign.
What is End the Housing Game?
Launched by the Housing Canada Coalition, the campaign highlights how the current system has become a losing game for far too many Canadians. And now, with new economic threats like America’s trade war with Canada further driving up housing costs and supply chain challenges, urgent action is needed.
This is a critical moment to ensure our country builds a more resilient and equitable housing system. The campaign calls on all federal parties to commit to a bold, 10-point action plan that includes:
- Creating an immediate housing safety net
- Protecting renters from homelessness
- Doubling the share of community housing
- Reforming taxes and streamlining permissions to support homebuilding
- Expanding Indigenous housing initiatives
- And more…
