A couple of weeks ago, Chadwick Newcombe from Kahane Law Office spoke at our Cocktails & Compliance event about the importance of understanding privacy limits during showings, when advertising, and in real estate transactions, particularly about the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). 

Most of us have experienced those moments when someone's behaviour leaves us wondering, "How did this person even get licensed?" Whether it's REALTORS® going silent mid-conversation, agents avoiding commission payments, or associates trying to steal your clients, these situations can be incredibly frustrating.

We know the importance of having a reliable, accurate and user-friendly MLS® System that supports the needs of our members and the clients they serve. The desire for high-quality listing data is evident by the number of member-reported issues that Member Practice receives related to wrong information on listings. Inputting incorrect information on listings can result in violations of CREB® Rule Part I 4.03 - Information Integrity.

Looking to give your client’s a smooth closing to their real estate sale or purchase? Keep in mind the importance of selecting a closing date.

Last year CREB® Member Practice worked with almost 3,000 members to answer practice questions, advise on transaction issues, discuss the expectations of professional conduct and improve the quality of the listing data. 

Of the 12,042 new CREB® listings in Q3, CREB® Member Practice reviewed 8,460 potential violations.

The CREB® Rules have been updated to outline a recent change in required reporting of some conditionally sold properties. 

The hot market has kept CREB® Member Practice busy as we identified compliance trends, promoted best practices and navigated unforeseen expectations.

It is important that REALTORS® follow and properly document seller’s showing instructions to assist in a smooth showing process for buyers and sellers.

When listing a property on the MLS® System, please remember to verify the title and community information before it goes live.
