Sending showing notifications with SentriKey

By CREB®

Do you use the SentriKey app? Here are some SentriKey tips to ensure the listing agent receives proper notifications when you’re showing a property.

  1. Don’t force close the app right away

The lockboxes connect to SentriKey via Bluetooth, and the app can only send information when connected. If you fully close the app too soon, it can interrupt the connection and the notification that the lockbox was accessed won’t be sent to the listing agent until you open the app again.

  2. Be mindful of your cell coverage

If you’re at a property with spotty, low, or no cell coverage, this could impact the showing notification being sent. The best practice is to open your SentriKey app again once you reach an area with better coverage to ensure the information is sent to SentriKey and notifies the list agent.

  3. Take the initiative to manually end the showing

There is an option to manually end the showing in the SentriKey app. This will send a notification to the listing agent to let them know you’re finished. If you don’t end it manually, the notification can be delayed until it automatically sends in 90 minutes unless one of the following happens.
                a. The app is used to access another property

                b. You leave a three-kilometer radius from the property

                c. The notification will send automatically 90 minutes

As a listing agent, any of the above situations may be the culprit if you don’t receive a showing notification that you’re expecting through SentriKey.
