Clue in on compliance – Q3

Of the 12,042 new CREB® listings in Q3, CREB® Member Practice reviewed 8,460 potential violations.

Top five rule violations in Q3

CREB® Member Practice worked with members to support best practices on the top five rule violations in Q3:

  1. Incorrect Duplex
  2. Legality of Suite
  3. Incorrect Listing Information
  4. Overdue Pending
  5. Potential of Suite

Watch CREB®Talk over the coming weeks for tips and advice about how to avoid these rule violations.

Education first

CREB® Member Practice encourages members to implement best practices to ensure data integrity in the MLS® System. We do this by sending educational advisories that include a reminder of rules and steps to take to correct the issue. The majority of members who receive an educational advisory are taking steps to avoid further violation of that rule.

If a member makes the same error again after they receive an educational advisory, violations will be subject to enforcement on an escalating scale.

CREB® Member Practice will continue to provide members with reminders of the rules through educational advisories as a first step to support our members through our education first philosophy.

Educational advisories in Q3

We saw new CREB® listings drop by about 32 per cent between Q2 and Q3, and saw a decline of educational advisories by 30 per cent and fines by close to 40 per cent.

With a 90 per cent compliance rate in Q3, we want to thank our members for their awareness of the MLS® System listing rules and for inputting their listings with care and accuracy.

  • Q3 educational advisories: 570
  • Q3 second offences: 98
  • Q3 third offences: 19
  • Q3 fourth offences: 3
